Massage for pets?

You might be picturing a dog lying on a cushioned table, cucumber slices over her eyes, paws wrapped in paraffin, enjoying a nice soothing massage.  Many people think of that scenario when they hear of Massage Therapy for pets (and there are dog spas that do exactly that!)

At Petted Bliss, we offer Therapeutic Massage that enhances a pet’s overall health and wellness, and can provide benefits for many chronic and acute conditions.  (no cucumber slices or paraffin, but the massage is still soothing!)

Just like humans, pets get aches and pains from acute injuries and chronic conditions. They can also experience anxiety and depression.  One of the challenges we face as pet parents is that our furry children are very good at hiding their pain from us.  We may not notice when they aren’t feeling like themselves because they show discomfort in subtle ways.  They may urinate or defecate in the house because walking on gravel or concrete outside hurts their paws.  They might spend all day sleeping in one spot because they don’t want to get up and move around that much. Sometimes we can tell something is wrong, but we aren’t sure what’s bothering them.

There are many alternative therapies that can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine to keep your pets healthy and happy!*

Massage has been shown to provide effective therapy for both physical and emotional health in humans – why NOT have massage therapy for pets?   They are our constant companions, our children, our best friends – and they deserve to feel their best!
